   ocr: 11 Tlingit Armor / D - THIS SELECTION OF ARMOR, WHICH DATES FROM THE late nineteenth century, was made by the Tlingit, a group of tribes who lived on the coast of southeast Alaska. The Tlingit, like most tribes of the Northwest, were warlike. They raided and took revenge on neigh- boring tribes and later fought with early Russian settlers. Besides the carved wooden helmet that shielded the head and upper face, a suit of armor also included a wooden collar to guard the lower face and neck.
